Dr. James Hall has a wealth of experience in dentistry and prosthodontics with expertise ranging from single implant crowns to advanced full mouth fixed or removable prostheses using both teeth and/or implants. He can provide expert care for patients with advanced wear or tooth destruction and demanding aesthetic needs. He is an experienced practitioner who can deal with problems that arise from early childhood through to advanced age, from simple solutions to the most complex care available.
Your first visit to Fortwilliam Specialist Dentistry
Before your first visit, you may want to think through your expectations about general or specialist dentistry so that you can discuss them openly. Dr Hall will listen to you, and then make an initial examination of your mouth. For some treatment, planning may begin immediately. More complex treatment plans may require another planning visit, with models, photographs, x-rays and jaw position records to be made of your mouth. For complex cases, it is common to mock up the expected result on a jaw replica.
After thorough discussion and examination, a personalized and individually tailored solution to your needs can then be outlined. You can expect thoughtful and educated advice based on experience and science. You can be shown before and after photographs of the procedures you are considering, and you will be given an estimate of costs and printed information to take with you to read in your own time.
During your first visits, Dr. Hall will explain the specific procedures that you want, help you to visualize the results and go over the risks. Although complications are rare, all procedures carry some risks. Dr. Hall will outline these for you based on the specific procedure.
During and after procedures, we are very attentive to your pain management, and understand that most people are concerned about this aspect. With careful administration of the appropriate anaesthetic and drugs, most patients experience nil or only mild discomfort for a few days after. For especially anxious patients, sedation can be arranged.
Our experienced staff are friendly, professional and supportive. They will phone you the day after procedures to ensure that you are comfortable. We may schedule a post-op visit as well as any other time if needed.
Dr Hall regularly attends meetings and international conferences to ensure that he is completely up to date with the latest developments and techniques in dentistry. He is a member of the British Dental Association, the New Zealand Dental Association, the International College of Prosthodontists, the International Association for Dental Research and the British Society for Restorative Dentistry. He is a registered specialist in Prosthodontics with the British General Dental Council and the New Zealand Dental Council.
Biography
Dr. Hall commenced practicing dentistry in New Zealand in 1990 and moved to the UK in 1991 where he worked in a general practice near the river Thames at Chiswick. He returned to New Zealand in 1995 and purchased and renovated a dental surgery creating a state of the art environment to practice quality dentistry in the heart of New Zealand’s premier fashion area. During this time he also practiced dentistry for a rural population on a remote island which gave him considerable experience treating advanced dental disease not commonly encountered in an urban practice. In 2003 he commenced a 3 year, full-time course in prosthodontics.He was awarded MDS with credit in 2005. He was awarded the prestigious Young Prosthodontist Award - second place from the International College of Prosthodontists in 2005 for the presentation of his clinical research on the aesthetics and success of implants supporting teeth the day the implants are placed. He has been working as a prosthodontist in London for the last 2 ½ years in 3 different speciality practices and is looking forward to bringing his experience and expertise to Belfast.
Mr. Hall has a partner of 20 years who is also a dentist, and 2 young children.
