We have been heavily involved in teaching dentists dental implant and oral surgery procedures.

Lecturers

Dr Mark Diamond is a specialist in Oral Surgery and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is the director of the Forwilliam Clinic, Belfast and Ballymena Clinic, referral only centres dedicated to oral surgery and implantology. He has installed a cone beam CT scanner and offers a full range of jaw reconstruction using bone graft and implant technology.

Dr Dan McKenna is an Oral Surgeon and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. His qualifications speak for themselves. He has been involved in teaching Implant year courses for over seven years. His contribution is recognised as generous and exhaustive.

He qualified at Queens University, Belfast in 1972 and has an extensive knowledge of all the major implant systems.

Other specialist lecturers may include Dr Nadine McAloney, Dr Patricia Duffin and Dr James Hall.

Dr Pearse Stinson BA BDentSc MFGDP DiplmpDent

Pearse Stinson has been involved in dental implantology for more than 15 years and has experience of several systems. He completed the Implant dentistry Diploma with the Faculty of General Dental Practice at the Royal College of Surgeons in 2008, having obtained his primary degree in 1981. Dr Stinson has attended several dental implantology commercial courses and has completed the initial Hilt Tatum year programme.

Course Description - The interactive surgery and prosthetics Implantology year course offers full training in all aspects of the placement and restoration of dental implants. This programme has been running successfully since 2002 and has trained dozens of dentists from the UK and Ireland. On completion of the course, participants can identify suitable cases to treat safely and manage complications should they arise. DSA training in implant surgery support is offered.

Course Description - CPD approved, & featuring guest speakers - This is a 6/1day/month comprehensive programme which includes assessment, treatment planning, surgery and restoration. It is ideal for dental practitioners with little or no experience of implant dentistry.

The aim of the course is to provide practitioners with hands-on, comprehensive guidance in practical skills and the information and equipment neccesary to incorporate implant treatment into daily practice. Participants will have the opportunity to bring their own patients for surgical placement and also gain prosthetic experience. Dental Nurse training is provided on one day of the Course.

To allow for a focused and more personalized learning experience the Biomet 3i Course will be limited to 8 participants.
